THIS INCREDIBLE LIGHTNING STORM LASTS 160 DAYS A YEAR AND 10 HOURS A NIGHT

on

For centuries the people of Venezuela have witnessed one of natures greatest wonders, The lightning storms of Lake Maracaibo. These storms occur every year and take place from 140 to 160 days of the year and generally last up to 10 hours each day.

These storms took place annually without interruption for centuries until early 2010 when for a period of around 4 months there was no sign of the storm. But just as suddenly as the storm vanished, it reappeared and is now back to its former self.

With this storm happening like clock work and using so much energy one cannot help but wonder if this kind of energy could be stored somehow? While we ponder that idea here are some fantastic images of this majestic storm followed by a couple of videos for you to enjoy.
