Anna Duggar & Family Share the Raw Truth About Their Faith After Josh’s Release from Rehab

After a 6-month stay in a faith-based rehab in Rockford, Illinois, the Duggars have shared that Josh is now back home in Springdale, Arkansas.

The former 19 Kids and Counting star has been in the media limelight since last year when his porn addiction, molestation charges, and cheating scandals went public, but now his family is trying to move forward.

About a month prior to her husband’s release, Anna shared this powerful message on the family’s website:

Many have asked how I am doing. So many have asked that its actually humbling and touching. 2015 was the most difficult year of my life. Yet, amazingly I’ve found that in my own life crisis God has drawn near to me (“He’s near to the brokenhearted” Psalms 34:18) and my faith has been more precious to me than ever before.

Just recently I visited Josh. It was an important step on a long difficult road. I want to thank all of you for your prayers and your messages of hope. I can never express how your kindness and prayers have brought encouragement when I needed it most—outpacing the grief and discouragement at every turn.

I trust that God will continue to show His love and tenderness toward us and bring beauty from ashes—somehow—as only He can do. Please continue to pray for me, Josh and our children.

In spite of being dragged through the most challenging year of her life, Anna is choosing to stand strong in her faith and is hopeful that God will restore the brokenness in her family.

Now that Josh has come home, the Duggar family has released another statement that echoes Anna’s faith-filled message. They wrote:

Josh has completed his residential rehabilitation program. We are so thankful for everyone who worked with Josh in this program. It was a crucial first step in recovery and healing for Josh. Josh has now returned to Arkansas, where he will continue professional counseling and focus on rebuilding relationships with his family. We look to God for help and guidance and place all of our trust in Him. We are forever grateful for the love and prayers offered by so many and hope you will continue to pray in the days ahead.

The Duggar Family

We all face difficulties and embarrassing personal problems, but the Duggars’ dirty laundry just so happens to be publicized on national television. I’m so inspired by this family for taking the high road and handling Josh’s situation with such poise and grace, all while relying on God to guide them through one step at a time, 15 minutes at a time.

As Anna remarked of her walk through the very public scandal, “I don’t know what I’m stepping into. I don’t know how to handle each situation. It’s not anything I ever would have thought I would walk through. Just do the next right thing. Have the next right response for the next 15 minutes.”

As it is for most hardships that we face, we often don’t get the privilege of the “magic wand,” overnight healing that makes things all better. Rather, it is a process that requires full reliance on Jesus through every teardrop, every decision, and every move we make, one baby step at a time. Sometimes the only thing we can do is the “next thing”—putting one foot in front of the other and pressing on, even when it hurts.

Join us in praying for Anna, Josh and the rest of the Duggar family as they continue to work through this difficult time…and may God bring beauty from ashes in His time.
